Keeping your opening hours and contact details accurate

Accurate hours and contact details are the foundation of a useful listing. This guide covers where to update them, how website checks and preview refreshes fit in, and a simple routine for staying current.

Of everything on your profile, opening hours and contact details are what customers act on most directly. They ring the number, turn up during the hours shown, or click the website. When any of those is wrong, the customer does not see an out-of-date listing; they see a business that did not answer. This guide covers where those details live, how Annuvell Local helps you check them, and a routine for keeping them right.

Which fields matter

Your dashboard's completeness panel tracks the contact and availability fields alongside the descriptive ones:

  • phone;
  • email;
  • address;
  • website;
  • opening hours.

All of them are edited from your listing's edit page, which you reach from "My Listings" once your claim is approved. If you manage more than one business, each has its own set.

Opening hours

Enter the hours you actually keep, not the hours you would like to keep. Some points that catch businesses out:

  • days you are closed should be shown as closed, not left blank;
  • if you open by appointment only, say so in the description as well, so the hours are not read as walk-in times;
  • seasonal changes, bank holidays and temporary closures need updating before they happen, not after a customer has been turned away.

Only published values reach the structured data on your public page, so hours you have entered and saved are what search engines see too.

Phone and email

Give a phone number that will be answered during the hours you show, and an email that someone checks. Customers who request a quote choose their preferred contact method, and your own reply to them relies on your details being right as well. If you change number, update the listing on the same day; a disconnected line is one of the quickest ways to lose an enquiry.

Address

Your address determines where you appear on location pages and in postcode searches. If you move, update it immediately. If you work from home and do not want the full address shown, keep at least the town accurate so customers searching by area still find you.

Website

When you save a website, Annuvell Local checks whether it responds. Your dashboard then shows one of four states beside the address: working, needs attention because the site could not be reached, not checked yet, or placeholder. A placeholder domain is hidden from your public page until you replace it with a real one.

After you fix a hosting problem, renew a domain or move to a new address, press "Recheck website" so the status updates. It is worth doing this whenever your web developer tells you something has changed.

What happens elsewhere when you edit

Two things follow from changing these details:

  • If you have generated an AI-enhanced preview, it is marked stale and the workspace offers a refresh, so any suggestions you review are based on your current facts rather than old ones.
  • If your listing states a comparison fact that differs from what your website says, that fact goes into review and the verified value stays published meanwhile. Keeping your website and listing aligned avoids this.

Nothing about your hours or contact details changes on its own. Annuvell Local checks and labels; you decide what is published.

A routine that takes a few minutes

  • Weekly: glance at the leads page and confirm your phone and email still match what is on the profile.
  • Monthly: open "My Listings", check the website status, and read your hours as a customer would.
  • Before any planned change: update the listing first, then the change happens. This applies to holidays, new premises, new numbers and new domains.
  • After any unplanned change: update the listing the same day.

Next steps

  • Open your listing's edit page and check each of the five fields above against reality.
  • Run "Recheck website" if your website status shows anything other than working.
  • If you have not claimed your listing yet, start at Find my business; you cannot edit details until the claim is approved.
  • If something on your listing is wrong and you cannot correct it, use the contact page.
