Where customers find businesses on Annuvell Local, which profile details feed search, comparisons and structured data, and why organic placement is never something you can buy.

Being listed is not the same as being found. Customers arrive at your profile through category pages, location pages, search and comparisons, and each of those routes depends on the information you have provided. This guide covers the practical steps that affect whether you appear where a customer is looking, on Annuvell Local and on the wider web.

Understand how customers browse

There are four main routes to a business profile:

  • Categories, which group businesses by what they do;
  • Locations, which group them by town and region;
  • Search, where a customer types a service and a place;
  • comparison pages and filters, which use confirmed category facts.

None of these routes is influenced by payment. Organic placement is never for sale, editorial guides are never pay-to-play, and any Featured placement that may exist is always labelled as such and never changes organic ranking. Your visibility rests on being in the right place with the right information.

Be in the right category and location

The single most important check is that your listing sits in the correct category and town. A gas engineer listed as a general builder will not be shown to someone browsing gas engineers, however good the profile is. When you search for your business on the find-my-business page, each result shows its category and town; if either is wrong, correct it as soon as your claim is approved.

If you serve several towns, say so in your description and services, but keep your address accurate. Customers searching by postcode expect a genuine location.

Complete the details search relies on

Search and comparison draw on the structured fields of your profile, not on prose alone. The completeness panel in your dashboard lists what is missing: logo, description, services, website, phone, email, address and opening hours. Each empty field is a way of being found that you are not using. Services matter particularly, because they are listed individually and are what a customer is most likely to search for.

Confirm comparison facts

Categories with comparison attributes show them on comparison pages and filters. A customer filtering for a particular option will only see businesses whose attribute is confirmed. In the AI profile workspace you can answer Yes or No for each attribute; facts verified from your website are marked verified, and those you confirm are shown as provided by the business. Unknown never means no, but unknown also never matches a filter.

Verified "Yes" facts are published as structured data on your public page, which is how search engines read machine-readable detail. Only published values reach structured data, so confirming facts has a benefit beyond the directory itself.

Keep your website reachable

Your dashboard checks whether your website responds and shows working, needs attention or placeholder. A placeholder domain is hidden from your public page. A website that cannot be reached is a poor signal to any customer who clicks through and a dead end for search engines. After any change, use "Recheck website".

Use the AI preview to spot gaps

The AI-enhanced preview marks fields it could not fill as "Add your information". Each one is a fact that, once added and published, becomes part of the profile search and comparisons can use. Nothing is published until you approve it, so there is no risk in generating a preview simply to see the gaps.

Consistency beyond Annuvell Local

Customers and search engines cross-check details between sources. The habits that help here are simple:

  • use the same business name, address and phone number on your website and your listing;
  • keep opening hours identical everywhere they appear;
  • make sure your website states the same comparison facts your listing confirms, so nothing lands in review;
  • update every source at the same time when something changes.

Consistency is not a trick; it is what makes a business look reliable to someone who has never used it.

Next steps

  • Search for your business under the right category and town, and correct either if wrong.
  • Clear the missing fields shown in your completeness panel.
  • Confirm the comparison attributes for your category.
  • Check your website is reachable and that it matches your listing.
  • Not yet claimed? Start at Find my business.
