How AI-enhanced profiles work (and why nothing is published without you)

The AI profile workspace shows your listing beside an AI-enhanced preview. Learn what each label means, how Accept, Edit, Reject and Publish work, and why the preview never touches your public page on its own.

The AI profile workspace in your dashboard shows two columns: your current listing, and an AI-enhanced preview of how it could read. It is designed around one rule: the preview is a draft, and nothing on your public profile changes until you review and publish it. This guide explains how the preview is built, what the labels mean and what each button does.

Where the preview comes from

The preview is generated from the facts already on your profile: your description, services, contact routes, hours, photos and any comparison details for your category. The model is only allowed to propose wording and organisation for facts it was given evidence for. Anything it cannot ground in your existing data is either dropped or shown as a clearly labelled example placeholder with no value attached.

The preview is stored separately from your listing. It never changes your business record, attributes, FAQs, search results or structured data by itself. Only the publish step moves approved fields into your live profile, and it does so through the same validation as an ordinary edit.

Labels and sections

Every field in the preview carries one of three labels:

  • Supported (green): taken directly from your canonical data. Nothing has been invented.
  • AI suggestion (purple): improved wording or a summary based on your facts, shown with the evidence it drew on.
  • Add your information (neutral): an example placeholder for something the model could not fill in. It asserts nothing about your business and links to the edit page.

Placeholders never count towards factual completeness. The "at a glance" table in the workspace shows your current completeness, what it would be with supported facts accepted, and the potential figure once you add the suggested details.

The sections you will see

The preview is organised into sections:

  • Description: improved wording of the facts already on your profile, with newly added words highlighted so you can see exactly what changed.
  • Services: what your profile already lists and how it could be summarised.
  • FAQs: answers drafted only from known facts; open questions are left for you to answer.
  • Comparison details: category facts used on comparisons and filters.
  • Structured profile improvements: hours, contact routes and photos.
  • Profile completeness: details that would make the profile more useful.

Some fields are guidance only and are marked as such; they help you improve the profile but are never published.

Accept, Edit, Reject, Regenerate

For each suggestion you can Accept it, Reject it, or, for the description, Edit the wording yourself. Suggested descriptions, service summaries and FAQs can also be regenerated individually if you want a fresh attempt. "Accept all supported" accepts every green field in one go, since those are simply your own facts.

When you are ready, "Review changes" shows a from-and-to view of every field you approved. Only then does "Publish approved changes" apply them to your live listing. Publishing covers your approved description, FAQs and confirmed comparison details; everything else remains guidance.

What is free and what needs the trial

Your first preview is free to generate and view. Editing drafts, regenerating, generating FAQs and publishing approved changes require the free 14-day AI trial, which needs no card. When the trial ends, your current profile and the preview stay viewable; regeneration and new drafts pause. Subscription plans may be introduced, but no paid service is live at the time of writing. See pricing for the current position.

When things change or go wrong

If you edit your profile after a preview was generated, the workspace marks the preview stale and offers a refresh, so you are never reviewing suggestions based on out-of-date facts. If the AI provider is unavailable, you still see the deterministic structure of a complete profile, clearly labelled as examples, and nothing fabricated is stored as if it were an AI result.

Next steps

  • Claim your listing through Find my business if you have not already; the workspace only works for listings you manage.
  • Generate your first preview and use the placeholders as a to-do list.
  • Fill in missing facts before regenerating, so the model has more to work with.
  • Questions about how suggestions are handled are answered on the FAQ.
